Five red flags when searching for your first apartment in Uganda
Your first apartment in Uganda should not teach you expensive lessons. These five red flags appear again and again in tenant stories we hear.
1. No verifiable location
"Near Acacia" is not an address. If you cannot place it on a map, do not pay transport or deposit.
2. Payment before viewing
Booking fees and full deposits before you see inside are the highest-risk pattern.
3. Person at gate ≠ person on phone
If the decision-maker never appears, you may be in a broker chain with no accountability.
4. Photos that do not connect
Different flooring, lighting, or window views in one album often means stitched listings.
5. Pressure to decide today
Urgency is a sales tactic. Good landlords accept comparison shopping.
Walk away from two flags combined. One flag demands extra verification.
What we are not saying
We are not saying every agent is bad. We are not saying every Facebook ad is a scam. We are not saying an app replaces visiting the property.
We are saying you deserve a rental market where location and price are not mysteries — and where founders do not inflate numbers to impress investors.
