RentFreely (“we”, “the app”) helps tenants discover rental properties in Uganda and helps landlords list homes. This policy describes what we collect and how we use it.
Information we collect
- Account data: email, name, phone (when provided), and role (tenant, landlord, or manager) when you register or sign in. Sign-in may use email one-time codes or Google Sign-In. Manager access is granted only through a landlord invite.
- Listing data: property details, photos, and location coordinates you submit as a landlord or invited manager.
- Landlord verification: ID photos and, for individual landlords, optional ownership documents; for property management companies, company registration and optional management mandates.
- Usage data: saved listings, properties you view or unlock, and support messages you send in the app.
- Push notifications: if you allow notifications, we store a device push token to deliver alerts about your account and announcements from RentFreely.
- Payment metadata (when enabled): when you buy view packages, we process payments through MTN MoMo and Airtel Money partners. We store transaction status and amounts; we do not store mobile-money PINs.
- Device location (optional): only when you allow it, to show your position on the map or center the map while placing a listing pin.
- Photos (optional): when you upload listing, profile, or verification images from your gallery or camera.
How we use information
- Provide search, maps, listings, wallet access, and payments.
- Connect tenants with landlord contact details after a listing is unlocked.
- Improve reliability, prevent abuse, and comply with law.
Third-party services
- Google Maps / Places for map display and location search.
- Google Sign-In for optional account sign-in (subject to Google’s policy).
- Expo push delivery for device notifications.
- Email delivery for sign-in codes and account messages.
- Cloud storage for listing photos and verification documents.
- MTN MoMo and Airtel Money for wallet top-ups when payments are enabled (subject to their policies).
- Hosting providers that run our API and store media.
Data retention and security
We keep account and transaction records as long as needed to operate the service and meet legal obligations. Data is transmitted over HTTPS. Access to production systems is restricted.
Your choices
You may request account correction or deletion by contacting us. You can deny location or photo permissions; some features may not work without them.
Children
RentFreely is not directed at children under 13.
Account deletion
You may delete your account from the app (Profile → Help & support → Request account deletion) or by emailing us from your registered email or phone. We remove account data within a reasonable period unless we must retain records for legal or payment obligations.
