Water tank and borehole inspection for renters in Uganda
Water is the utility tenants feel every morning. In much of Greater Kampala, the question is not "is there water?" but whose tank, whose bill, and what happens on Sunday.
Overhead tank
- Is it large enough for the building?
- Who pays to fill — flat fee or split?
- Is there a pump timer you can live with?
Borehole vs NWSC
Borehole can be reliable or salty. Taste the water. Ask about treatment. NWSC areas still need storage when supply drops.
Scheduled supply
Some compounds fill tanks on fixed days. If you work odd hours, mismatch matters.
Bathroom proof
Run taps for several minutes at peak viewing time — not when tank was just filled for show.
Write it down
"Water included" should mean something measurable. Get tank fill responsibility in the agreement.
What we are not saying
We are not saying every agent is bad. We are not saying every Facebook ad is a scam. We are not saying an app replaces visiting the property.
We are saying you deserve a rental market where location and price are not mysteries — and where founders do not inflate numbers to impress investors.
